Carlton Candle Co is Daddy’s workshop — small-batch fragrance and objects designed to shape mood, create atmosphere and make spaces feel lived in.
Candle making has been part of my life for more than twenty-five years. It has taken me from teaching candle-making and owning Wicks & Wares in Newcastle, through several creative reinventions, to today’s small-batch workshop known as Carlton Candle Co.
While photography tells stories through light and shadow, Carlton Candle Co explores the same ideas through scent, warmth and craftsmanship. It’s a slower process, one that begins with melting wax, blending fragrance, pouring vessels and making things by hand.
Everything is created in small batches using quality materials and a practical approach. Natural wax blends, cotton and wood wicks, high-quality fragrance oils and handmade vessels all play their part, but the focus has always been on the finished product rather than elaborate packaging or unnecessary fluff.
The fragrances lean earthy, rustic and grounded, drawing inspiration from timber, spice, leather, smoke and the quiet comfort of well-used spaces. I use a palette of fragrance materials to formulate Atmospheres.
Over time you will find wax melts, candles, reed diffusers, handcrafted vessels, wax burners, leather care, massage candles and the occasional creative experiment. Not every idea becomes a permanent product, and that’s part of the fun.
Carlton Candle Co isn’t driven by production schedules or seasonal collections. Products are made when time, inspiration and materials align. Some are released as limited batches, some return when the moment feels right, and others are one-off pieces that never appear again. Once they’re gone, they’re simply part of the workshop’s story.
The handmade process is intentionally visible. You may notice slight variations in handcrafted objects and vessels, labels or finishes, because every piece passes through Daddy’s hands rather than a production line. We keep presentation honest and packaging simple so more of what you pay goes into the product itself.
